My client is a growing, Fife-based engineering & manufacturing business that has built up a very successful reputation over the last 20+ years in the manufacture high-quality, bespoke equipment for a blue-chip customer base. They have an extensive design & manufacturing capability, with a flexible working culture. They're collaborative, pragmatic and can make quick decisions in order to benefit their staff and customers; without lots of bureaucracy. In order to support an ever-growing project pipeline, they've made a number of key hires lately, which will continue throughout 2024.


The role


The role would pick up hands-on delivery of some of the company's high-profile projects. The position is customer-facing and would ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and with the highest level of quality and safety; working with all departments and personnel as a team, to ensure the company objectives are met. This would include:


  • Creating, managing and monitoring project scope and programme schedules
  • Coordinating and managing communications and project documentation
  • Preparation of project progress reports
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Clients ,key stakeholders and 3rd party providers.
  • Work closely with various departments to develop solutions from customer requirements/ specifications and legal requirements
  • Ensuring that projects are fit-for purpose and comply with all legal, statutory, mandatory and business critical requirements
  • Creating quotes and variations covering management of change
  • Using project management tools to feedback into the system, so lessons are learned effectively


The role will be primarily be based on site in Fife, but there's flexibility around hybrid working and start/finish times for the days you're on site.


The person


  • Significant (3+ years) experience in leading customer-facing project activity within a dynamic manufacturing/engineering organisation. Any type of manufacturing considered (e.g. Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Defence, Electronics etc.)
  • Ideally a formal project management qualification (APM or Prince 2)
  • Great track record of delivering projects; taking into account on-time delivery, quality, safety & budget, as well as customer satisfaction metrics
  • The ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with other functions; operations, engineering, quality and supply chain
  • Ability to coach and mentor more junior project-team members
  • The desire to progress into a fully-fledged leadership role in the future.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT literacy (Microsoft Packages and ERP Systems)
  • Continuous improvement mindset
