Job Description

The banking services that Nationwide provides and the service we give are unrivalled. At the core of this are our digital channels ensuring our members and our customers can interact with us as they chose in a safe and secure channel that offers the experience they desire.

We're on a journey to provide the best banking services for the UK, and as part of this, we are simplifying our systems and streamlining the apps and services our members and colleagues use. For Nationwide has always delivered great service in new ways: for example, we were one of the first UK financial services providers to provide online banking.

Within Central Functions we support the development and maintenance of key Finance and Treasury systems and ensure the timely and accurate provision of financial information to the regulators. We are looking to recruit a Project Manager for our Finance Regulatory Reporting Value Stream (RRVS), which is responsible for ensuring that compliance with key regulatory requirements such as Basel 3.1, Maxing Tax Digital and Consumer Product Sales Data are achieved.

Central Functions is a specialised change and run team supporting the delivery of the Nationwide strategy for our People, Finance, Business Services and Credit Risk functions. It is essential that we support, maintain and continue to develop the IT systems that enable us to ensure a robust financial position and meet all our regulatory commitments and reporting requirements.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, at our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here .

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you'll be doing

A Project Manager supports the day-to-day management of complex change initiatives throughout the full project life lifecycle. You'll be supporting the Product Owner and Delivery team from inception through to close down; scoping, planning, managing, and delivering on initiatives.

You'll have an in-depth comprehension of the time, quality and cost involved in multiple initiatives; responsible for considering factors such as business readiness, release management, demand management and the implementation. You'll also be responsible for the assessment of the outcomes linked to the initiative, ensuring that they will be fit for purpose within the business, meeting the needs of our members and employees.

An integral role as a Project Manager is to pro-actively identify and escalate risks/blockers within an initiative, and to resolve them to the best of your ability. You'll be using your skills to seek out opportunities for continuous improvement, as well as assisting with post-completion reviews to establish areas for development.

On a day-to-day basis you'll be leading diverse teams within Value Stream, working to ensure that workforce resource is allocated to the right place at the right time. This role is a natural point of escalation and as a successful candidate you will influence a collaborative team culture of accountable freedom and development, working towards outcomes focused on change.

We understand that learning is essential for us to grow as Project Managers, so we'll provide access to Pluralsight and Degreed courses, regular training courses, and the time that you need to learn. There are plenty of opportunities for you to teach, too.

What makes us different

Nationwide is the world's largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK's population. We've got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we're not a bank.

As a building society, we're owned by our members - that's our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose - Banking - but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You'll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You'll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don't have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
