Job Description

What you'll do

We are seeking to recruit a confident and experienced Solicitor, Legal Executive or experienced Litigation Executive / Manager (with suitable housing management / litigation experience) to support the continued growth and development of our well regarded Property Litigation team in Exeter.

In this role, you will be working directly with the partners and in particular will have direct responsibility for a team of paralegals and junior solicitors, for which you will provide day-to-day line management and support.

The work that you will be responsible for will be related to social landlord and housing management issues, in particular dealing with defending disrepair claims and statutory nuisance claims.

You can expect to take a high degree of responsibility for the cases you're working on from the outset, whilst playing a key role within a growing, supportive and friendly team.

Who you are

Having worked in a regional, national or public sector practice, you will have gained a good level of litigation experience whilst working in housing management, which will allow you to quickly transition into our team.

As an excellent communicator, you will easily gain the confidence of the clients you are working with, handling their matters with empathy and sensitivity, whilst possessing the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with clients, and show a genuine commitment to their care.

Ideally with some previous experience of managing a team of junior colleagues, and with extensive litigation and housing management experience, you will be passionate about providing support and guidance to your team, whilst effectively managing competing priorities.

As a naturally resilient individual, you will be able to cope with stressful and demanding situations, and be accustomed to working under pressure to meet challenging deadlines. You will be tenacious and thorough with good commercial judgement, in order to find the best possible outcomes for our clients in often challenging circumstances. With a keen eye for detail and recognised as being meticulous in your work, you will be looking to take on high levels of responsibility from the outset.

Why join Team Ashfords?

We also recognise that each of our career journeys is unique. So, we will be ambitious for you and give you the support you need to develop your career, your way. Importantly, we will give you the space and flexibility for your life outside work too.

Our goal? To help you realise your full potential as part of a forward-thinking team and business.

That's what sets us apart.

Our Offer

We offer a range of benefits to support you at work and at home.

Alongside 25 days annual leave, plus your birthday off and an extra day at Christmas, we have a comprehensive package to support physical and mental health including onsite yoga classes and a gym at our head office in Exeter, healthcare plans, an Employee Assistance programme and free access for you and up to five friends to the 'Calm' Mindfulness App.
