Job Description

Our client is looking for an up-and-coming PR bod to join their team as an account exec.

But what, ideally, would make that up-and-coming bod? Well, being a very good writer is a must. A huge part of the PR game is writing, so we want someone who is super confident in producing quality written work that has A-game grammar, but which just needs a steer from our more senior bods when it comes to direction/content.

PR is a fast-moving job, so you’ll need to be well organised and comfortable handling tasks that need a quick turnaround. While we’re not averse to a bit of procrastination, we do need someone with a healthy dose of get up and go, charisma, energy or ‘joie de vivre’ as the Bulgarians like to say. And whilst we do the vast majority of our work within a 9-5.30 capacity, there will be the odd occasion where you’ll need to be willing to at least check your emails/WhatsAapp out of hours. But we promise you, this is a rare need.

What experience are we looking for? In truth, not a lot. But some, as ever, is preferable. Whether you’re an enthusiastic, freshly educated yoof gunning for a block shattering start to your career, or a slightly more grizzled account executive with a couple of PR years under your belt who fancies pastures newer and greener, then this role could be for you.

Cutting to the chase then, what will you be doing day to day? Well (unsurprisingly) you’ll be sitting within the 'PR' team, where you’ll be reporting into a combination of your PR line manager and our dedicated account management team (they sit in the middle of our services making sure stuff gets done). A sample of tasks include:

  • Drafting and distributing press releases and expert articles (as a PR, you’ll soon become ‘expert’ in all manner of things).
  • Building media lists and carrying out comprehensive media 'sell-ins' via phone and email. PR bods are generally a talkative bunch, so the gift of the gab is a useful forte here.
  • Liaising with journalists and clients to arrange potential media opportunities.
  • Using and managing the agency's PR software. Don’t worry, it’s not the controls of an Airbus.
  • Organising media focused competitions, hotel press stays, setting up briefing opportunities and more.
  • Contributing to weekly and monthly reporting. This is the evidence of our hard work. Desired Skills and Experience
  • Good (we’d say excellent, but good we can work with) writing skills.
  • A passion (cliché bell, ding ding!) for our core sectors, particularly hospitality and care.
  • A creative thinker. We love a good PR stunt at Pic PR, and if you’ve got ideas a plenty, you’ll fit right in.
  • An interest in PR/Marketing (always good to actually like what you do).
  • Polished and professional appearance (we don’t mean spit shine shoes here, but we do mean not the ‘just emerged from a hedge at 4am’ look).
  • Good presentation skills (this isn’t a reference to a PowerPoint wizard, so think presentation in general).
  • Ability to work well in a team (lone wolves have their place, we definitely want a pack animal here!).
  • Calmness under pressure and ability to achieve tight deadlines. Running around yelling ‘The end is nigh!’ following a negative TripAdvisor review for one of our hotel clients just puts the rest of the team on edge.
  • A real appetite for digital comms. Digital: it’s the future. We’ve tasted it.
  • Positive attitude. Whilst we love a bit of self-deprecation, please, no misery guts; we’re an upbeat bunch!
  • Fun and friendly demeanor *rolls eyes in fun and friendly way*.

Finally, a good sense of humour. Yeah, we’re dead funny. So, you’d better be too. Interested? Then whack us across your CV and a snazzy covering letter
