Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Durations: Permanent

Location: Lisburn/ Banbridge area

Hours: Between Monday to Friday 08.00am to 5.00pm with 1 hour lunch break

Salary: The organisation are negotiable on salary depending on experience and we can discuss this.

Benefits include: 28 days annual leave.

On behalf of our client we have an exciting new opportunity for an individual with experience in Purchasing.

This is a key role within the organisation and the Purchasing Manager will lead purchasing activities across the business, accountable for developing, then implementing the company’s purchasing strategy, the overall aim of which, will be to secure the best possible products and services, at the most competitive prices, delivered efficiently. They will work closely with the sales organisation in demand planning, as well as being part of the longer-term product and service development strategy. There is considerable scope to shape this role and be part of the future direction of the company, as it expands activities across Europe.

You will need:

·Previous experience in a senior procurement role.

·The ideal candidate will have a ‘can do’ attitude; be comfortable in developing strategies under their own initiative, then able to present these to stakeholders.

·Good order’ will be one of their guiding principles, where they will be effective at working operationally, and indeed, open to the approach of ‘all hands on deck’, as and when the business requires it.

·Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation.

·Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.

Key responsibilities:

·Develop the overall procurement strategy, then ensure implementation and compliance across the business.

·Identifying areas for improvement, to continually drive performance and business results.

·Work alongside sales leadership to understand sales forecasts, enabling planning for customer orders in short/medium/long term, as part of the demand plan.

·Maintain minimum and maximum stock quantities of key product items.

·Oversee import and export regulations, maintaining up to date knowledge of those affecting the business.

·Liaise with the Finance Team regarding VAT, duties, and other taxes due on import and export activities, including the Trader Support Scheme, and other schemes as they emerge.

·Create an import/export strategy, balancing efficiency and cost.

·Source, evaluate and engage suppliers, based on the best needs and fit for the business, including negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management.

·Maintain ERP system and other business records, as well as being the accountable person for stock controls and stock takes, as and when required.

·Work with the Finance Team to develop a Risk Register, seeking alternative supplier channels, as part of risk mitigation.

·Work within customer KPIs where required, such as On Time In Full (OTIF), and others reasonably required by the business.

·Assist with the establishment of stock codes. Ensure all stock products are coded with a consistent product description, and eliminate any duplication.

·Be part of the Development Steering Committee (R&D), working through the feasibility of potential development projects.

·Effectively manage slow moving and obsolete stock (SLOB), defining efficient ways of minimising loss to the business.

·Develop strong relationships with business stakeholder and strategic supply chain partners to improve business outcomes.

·Organising freight for items outside agreed contracts.

·File Trader Support Services supplementary declarations.

·Work with the finance team to ensure all product compliance obligations are met and records kept up to date.

·Work with the finance team to ensure all purchase ledger transactions are completed in a timely manner.
