Who are we?

Toyota Connected Europe wants to create a better world through connected mobility for all. We are a new company created to bring big data and a customer focus into all aspects of the mobility experience, so everyone’s experience is more personal, convenient, fun and safe. We create and enable technologies to delight and simplify the lives of everyone who use our products and empower them to think of and use our services in new ways.

You will be joining us at the beginning of Toyota Connected Europe’s journey of building our team and products. We are building teams to inspire, innovate and build technologies and products that are used by millions of people from all walks of life. We want every member of our team to live and breathe the start-up culture of Toyota Connected Europe and feel and act like an owner every day. This is an opportunity to have an immediate impact and voice: what you create today, you will see being used tomorrow.

What is the role?

Toyota’s manufacturing has had a formidable reputation for quality lasting 50 years or more. At Toyota Connected EU, we are looking for a Lead QA to join a talented engineering team and help us match this reputation in software delivery. Reporting to the Head of QA, you will coordinate test planning, design, test case development, and execution for our core product sets. You will lead test automation development within large-scale, distributed software services.

What will you do?

  • Plan and drive testing activities across all stages and iterations of product, systems, and service development. Plan, organise, and conduct formal reviews and assessments of complex domain areas, cross-functional areas, across the supply chain.
  • Prepare and report on assessment findings and associated risks. Ensure that appropriate owners for corrective actions are identified. Identify opportunities to improve organisational control mechanisms.
  • Oversee the assurance activities of others, providing advice and expertise to support assurance activity.
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on all aspects of test planning and execution. Adopt and adapt appropriate testing methods, automated tools, and techniques to solve problems in tools and testing approaches.
  • Measure and monitor standards for testing, assessing risks, and taking preventative action.
  • Identify improvements and contribute to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing.
  • Advise on the application of appropriate quality management techniques and standards.
  • Determine areas where existing processes should change from analysing audit findings.
  • Motivate and lead other QAs.
  • Facilitate improvements to processes by changing approaches and working practices, typically using recognised models.
  • Take responsibility for updating and distributing organisational standards.

Who are we looking for?

  • Previous hands-on experience as a Test Lead working in cross-functional, autonomous product teams.
  • Experience working with and leading near shore/off shore resources.
  • Broad knowledge of software development lifecycle, Cloud technologies, functional and non-functional test methodologies.
  • Deep knowledge of Java test automation frameworks, including setup and low maintenance design.
  • Experience working within BDD and designing testable acceptance criteria.
  • Expert knowledge and deep experience in API testing.
  • Relevant and demonstrable experience of managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expert user of Jira with the ability to drive detailed reporting and shape for QA.
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of non-functional testing, especially around performance testing with use of Java tooling, modelling, and execution.
  • Knowledge and use of test management and defect management tools.
  • Proven capabilities of pulling together release status (impact of outstanding tests, quality, and bugs).
  • Able to understand resource demands and how to effectively use skills in the right place.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Able to make fact-based decisions and articulate them to the test teams/stakeholders.
  • This is not a hands-off role, so helping other QAs and executing tests will be part of your skill set.

Equal Opportunities, Inclusion & Diversity

We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive group of talent with a broad range of backgrounds, skills, and capabilities and will give full and fair consideration to all applicants. We know that flexibility is key to success and our people work flexibly in many ways, so if this is important to you, please let us know.
