Job Description

The Role:

The main responsibility is to provide technical support to the technical department to maintain safety, quality, and legality of the products. To work with Site Technical and Operations teams to ensure the efficient production of safe and legal food.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Carry out internal audits and routine Food Safety inspections.
  2. Conduct the site traceability exercises.
  3. Carry out daily taste sessions (Hovis Quality Evaluation).
  4. Manage Product quality Standards, from identifying the quality standards to ensuring the factory implements them.
  5. Liaise with suppliers and raise derogations for ingredients shelf life when necessary.
  6. Arrange sample collection and dispatch – Finished Product, Raw Materials, and Micro.
  7. Manage raw materials and packaging documentation.
  8. Involve in preparing for BRC and customer audits.
  9. Deliver continuous improvement of both product quality and standards on site.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Degree qualified (industry Technical experience will be considered in lieu of qualifications).
  2. Knowledge of food legislation and food safety principles.
  3. Possess good communication skills both written and verbal and must be computer literate.
  4. Ability to influence & challenge.
  5. Committed to incorporating the Hovis values of Quality, Accountability, and Trust in day-to-day functions.
  6. Customer-facing experience.
  7. Bakery industry experience.
  8. Experience with retailers and 3rd party audit/BRC standards.
  9. Experience of working in a Food manufacturing environment.
  10. Internal audit training.
