We have a new opportunity to join the growing team at a cutting-edge medical technology business based in Edinburgh.


Carcinotech is a MedTech company with expertise in manufacturing 3D printed living tumours using patient-derived biopsies, primary cells, immune cells and cancer stem cells. Carcinotech’s advanced models provide a platform for rapid, ethical, and accurate drug screening, pre-clinical and personalised medicine testing.


As part of expansion, we are looking for a QC Scientist to work within our small team to support several ongoing projects. The QC scientist will have a keen eye for detail and experience in a quality-focussed environment. They will assist the scientific team in testing products and services offered by the company and ensure reliable, consistent outputs.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Optimisation and routine running of cell-based assays (viability, cell counts, apoptosis, cytotoxicity, ELISA, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, RT-PCT etc).
  • Preparation of samples for flow cytometry and performing FACS analysis
  • Reporting results of QC assays and raising issues as they arise
  • Preparing & shipping samples & plates to outsourced providers & clients
  • Ownership & maintenance of standard QC SOPs
  • Input into development of new in-house assays to meet client needs and expand Carcinotech’s offering
  • Maintaining up to date inventory of frozen samples
  • Assist with implementation of new quality measures & standards
  • Contributing to writing of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Contributing to regular lab maintenance including cleaning, stock management and equipment monitoring


We are looking for experience in:

  • 2+ years’ experience performing assays in an industry setting
  • Working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a quality environment such as GLP/GMP
  • Experience performing 3D cell culture
  • Demonstrable experience in statistical data analysis interpretation, and visualisation


Demonstrable experience of performing:

  • DNA/RNAextractions,
  • Flow cytometry
  • PCR
  • RT-PCR
  • Elisa



Education qualification:

Master’s degree in biology/ or related subject + relevant experience, PhD desirable
