Job Description

Job Activities

  • Perform quality control related analysis in accordance with the documented procedures, standards and specifications.
  • Record, interpret and communicate results effectively to the applicable departments.
  • Investigate all quality related non-conformances, support relevant departments with quality related issues. Identify and implement corrective/preventative action where appropriate.
  • Perform routine verification and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order. Troubleshoot issues when required.
  • Manage equipment calibration, preventative maintenance and service to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain and update relevant records (such as laboratory data files, daily verification checks, calibration logs).
  • Maintain and update sample and document archives.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new lab equipment.
  • Support the introduction of new products at the Ferrybridge blending plant.
  • Support update and maintenance of product BOM’s (bill of materials)
  • Engage in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives and ensure housekeeping and cleanliness are to the highest
  • Create, review and update laboratory procedures, standards test methods and risk assessments.
  • Assist in the purchasing and raising of PO’s for Laboratory related equipment and consumables.
  • Perform any other tasks required of the role, as requested/identified by Line manager.

Qualification and Experience Required

  • Science related GCSEs or A Levels (or equivalent) with a minimum 1 year experience of a technical / laboratory background.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • HND or Bachelor’s in a science related field preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the company.
  • Be self-motivated and work without supervision.
  • Flexible approach to problem solving and working arrangements.
  • Punctual and reliable Computer literate with MS Office etc.
  • SAP and ICP experience preferable
