Salary: GBP22,000 - GBP34,000

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Quality Manager on behalf of one of our clients. For this position, our client is willing to offer this opportunity to a candidate on either a part-time or full-time basis.

As the Quality Manager (QM), you will be a key member of the company management team, responsible for managing and maintaining the company's ISO9000 Quality and Health & Safety functions, as well as various aspects of facility management and maintenance.

Working in close cooperation with the Directors, Section Managers, and Staff, you must ensure the practical application of Quality and H&S systems. The QM must ensure compliance with necessary processes and legislation while maintaining the efficient operation of the company.

The post requires excellent multi-tasking, organisational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of ISO9001 quality standards and their practical application in a small company with diverse product ranges and customer base. A specific knowledge of a small-scale production environment is an advantage, but not essential. A full, clean UK driving license is desirable, but not essential.

Formal qualifications will be considered; however, experience in managing systems and a proactive approach to all aspects of managing the business is the most important asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the ISO quality system, including leading all re-certification assessments with the appropriate notified body.
  • Conduct and maintain internal quality audits.
  • Conduct and maintain internal Health & Safety audits.
  • Liaise with external Health & Safety consultants.
  • Manage the quality inspector.
  • Manage and maintain safety-related issues and records including COSHH, LOLER, SEMA First Aid, health screening, PATS testing, equipment inspection, and calibration.
  • Manage the building/facility, including arranging building and/or machinery repair & maintenance, security system functionality, fire alarm system functionality, etc.
  • Liaise with both customers and suppliers on quality and certification-related issues.
  • Maintain certification records for our ATEX Zone 2 engine products.
  • In conjunction with the Directors and Section Managers, assess and identify training requirements for staff in their various roles.
  • Arrange any necessary training courses and maintain training records.
  • Manage the new employee induction process.
  • In the absence of the Quality Inspector, handle goods inward and final inspection duties.
  • Work with the Directors for the implementation of company policies.
  • Effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities.
  • Attend internal and external meetings and training as necessary & identified by the Directors.
  • Maintain personally and promote within the team a flexible attitude towards working hours.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of ISO quality management certification.
  • Proven technical/mechanical understanding.
  • Experience within a quality management role.
  • Strong communication skills enabling the analysis of situations, articulation of ideas, building consensus, and making commercial decisions.
  • Confidence when interacting with customers, communicating positively with them through emails, teams, and/or phone conversations.
