Quality Systems Engineer

Upto £40k based on experience

Main purpose of job role:

Provide quality assurance and compliance verification support to internal and external stakeholders including customers, suppliers, accreditation organisations as well as internal manufacturing cells and engage in APQP, proactive and continuous improvement activities in targeted areas. Support the Quality Assurance strategy to ensure product flow consistent with established industry standards, government regulations and customer requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, Conduct and Close-Out Quality Management System audits (internal and supplier) and Product Audits to verify Processes and Procedures compliance to AS9100 and CAA Part21G.
  • Primary Quality team liaison for compiling customer compliance questionnaires and hosting Customer and other external party audits.
  • Develop a framework to deploy a Safety Management System and provided on-going system maintenance.
  • Review of customer quality requirements related to orders ensuring their correct and timely, identification and implementation.
  • Participate in New Product Implementation (NPI) development and launch activities focused around Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, including;
  • Identification of customer expectations, manufacturing and test support, reliability analysis, design reviews, evaluation of test programs, material testing.
  • FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
  • MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis)
  • SPC (Statistical Process Control)
  • Support and drive the Quality Team working in the manufacturing area relative to the collection and analysis of quality data providing expertise and ensuring product and process quality requirements are implemented through business Policies and Quality Best Practice deployment.
  • Provide Quality customer interface and expertise to proactively assure requirements are understood and satisfied, including leading complaint resolution and root cause and corrective action execution.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Capable of performing basic inspection of components
  • Good Experience of Quality auditing techniques
  • Basic PC skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Engineering qualifications ONC/HNC
  • Aerospace, medical or automotive industry experience

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of industry quality registration schemes and certification processes (i.e., ISO9000, AS9100, AS13100)
  • Understanding of engineering design and product reliability concepts and tool sets
  • Knowledge of gauging and basic understanding of product material properties
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to process/product variability, and root cause and corrective action determination.
  • Detailed knowledge of System and process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements.
  • Understanding of problem solving methods i.e.8D, root cause analysis, and the associated tools used to analyse problems, evaluate and complete improvement projects

Experience Required:

  • Acting under own motivation
  • Minimum of 2 years within a Quality discipline

Personal Skills Required:

  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
