A chartered professional Quantity Surveyor to design, own and drive our pricing, mid-term assessments, client liaison on quantities, retentions and payment/pricing disciplines.  The role will own responsibility for our margin targets and work closely with our Finance Director to produce project-level P&L’s, using data to drive our performance to stringent financial targets.  The role also includes the procurement of all construction materials, developing supplier strategies, improving our buying propensities with certain products, in the pursuit of the best prices for the desired products and improved business outcomes.  All processes will take account of the truly bespoke and creative nature of our work and products, never with a one-size-fits-all all approach.



Who we’re looking for …


A chartered professional with a degree level qualification in quantity surveying, whether postgraduate or via an appropriate organisation such as RICS. Additionally, at least 10 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, working across both quantity surveying and buying, including detailed knowledge of, and qualification in, construction industry procurement disciplines.



What you’ll do …


As a senior manager in the business, you will report to the Managing Director, with significant stakeholder engagement with our Construction Director, Finance Director, Head of Build, Head of Operations, Head of Creative and Head of Design.


  • Collaborate closely with clients and relevant stakeholders to understand their aspirations, requirements and strategic outcomes
  • Develop a structured and disciplined pricing model that follows the design process
  • Prepare tender and contract documents
  • Price projects during the early iterations/indications, up to the eventual contract certain position
  • Run periodic quantifications for interim billing, and manage spec changes & clear client comms
  • Perform risk and value management and cost control within the project
  • Manage retentions, snagging and final quantities, through to prompt execution of final stage payments
  • Prepare cost analysis for repair and maintenance work
  • Assign work to sub-contractors, overseeing performance at all stages
  • Ensure projects meet legal and quality standards (detailed knowledge of ROSPA regs would be preferable but not essential)
  • Advise of contractual claims and disputes
  • Assist the Finance team in ensuring we don’t incur any avoidable bad debts
  • Conduct a full review of all suppliers, implementing a regular pricing review approach
  • Ensure economies are achieved through smart buying, professional price negotiations, consolidation of suppliers and a proactive relationship-led approach to purchasing
  • Contribute to the delivery of Group-wide margin improvement targets
  • Report to the Managing Director monthly against agreed KPI’s and performance targets



Apply if you have …


  • Tertiary education in the construction sector in quantity surveying and purchasing
  • A vibrant portfolio demonstrating your direct involvement in the delivery of creative and innovative projects from conception through to completion (any construction sector)
  • Experience in the adventure play or visitor attractions sectors with thorough knowledge of the industry dynamics is desirable (but not essential)
  • Proficiency in relevant software is required for the two core role disciplines
  • A full and current driver’s license plus access to own transport is desirable due to the requirement to attend site visits and meetings as required
  • Motivation, drive and a can-do attitude (a sense of humour always helps too!)
