RAM Engineer, Rail (Senior or Principal), London, Manchester, Bristol & Birmingham

We are looking for RAM Engineers to join our highly reputable team based at London, Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham. This role provides a fantastic career opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and complex UK and international rail projects, whilst developing your skills and experience under the guidance and mentorship of our industry-recognised senior team.

A typical week would include:

  • Under the direction of our senior team, you will work across projects involving rail infrastructure, rolling stock and signalling; providing a range of consulting services to clients, in the field of RAM Engineering
  • You will undertake BS EN 50126 RAM activities including; RAM plans, Functional Analysis, Functional Block Diagrams, reliability/availability apportionment, predictions and modelling, FMECAs, Fault Tree Analysis / Reliability Block Diagram, DRACAS and maintainability analyses.
  • You will be working collaboratively with our clients and internal teams in the development of designs ensuring RAM compliance is achieved throughout the project life cycle by the identification of undesirable issues and influencing design solutions
  • You will be taking a leading role on smaller projects, under the mentorship of our senior team, to ensure the full management and delivery of projects within your discipline. This may require you to act as RAM Project Manager for smaller projects.
  • You will deliver support to RAM, and when required, safety activities in other business areas and provide input to proposal writing and future tender submissions.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree in a technical engineering related discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience (senior engineer) or 8+ years’ experience (principal engineer) in RAM engineering (rail desirable, but not essential).
  • Corporate membership with an appropriate professional institution (e.g. SaRS, IET, IMechE).
  • Professional registration, or working towards registration, as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.
  • Ability to interface with railway domain specialists, design managers and construction project managers, in a competent professional manner.
  • Broad experience of the application of RAM and systems engineering within major infrastructure projects with a general appreciation of the safety discipline.
  • Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Knowledge and background in a mainline or metro railway discipline, g. Signalling, Control Systems, Traction Power, Depot.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of CENELEC EN 50126/8/9.
  • Experience as RAM Engineer on rail projects.
  • Experience and / or formal qualifications in project and commercial management.
  • Experience in the consultancy environment.
