Tomlinson Environmental Services (TES) is looking to add a Seasonal Ramp Attendant to our Team at the Peterborough Landfill. The role is focused on assisting, educating and directing customers on where to deposit waste at the City owned landfill. The role works closely with the rest of the TES Team and the Municipality to maximize recycling opportunities and to ensure that waste is handled safely disposed of properly. The successful candidate will also be trained to operate the scale system and additional shifts may be available for that role. The current schedule for the Ramp Attendant is Monday to Friday (possibly Saturday) from May 1 to September 30 with the possibility of part time shifts from October to March. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Direct customers to proper drop off locations in a professional manner Answer questions Communicate with foremen throughout the day to request equipment operator services Communicate with scale attendant to relay information regarding customer needs Relay any customer concerns or complaints Train on scale house operations Other duties as assigned ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES Monitoring of vehicles and persons entering the premises Keep site clean and collect litter, assist with snow removal etc. Filling in as a scale attendant when needed WORKING CONDITIONS Dealing with customers and managing complaints Outdoor environment (heat, wet and cold environments are probable) Potential lifting The schedule is currently 5 day per week, Monday to Friday (or Saturday), with the potential for extra days covering either the ramp or the scale EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers, and all co-workers required. Computer knowledge and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task, are required. Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
