Rampion Offshore Wind Farm generates enough green electricity to power the equivalent of around 350,000 UK homes. This is equal to almost half of the homes in Sussex. The wind farm comprises 116 Vestas V112 3.45MW turbines on a 70 square kilometre site located between 13 and 20 kilometres off the Sussex coast in the English Channel.

The Rampion Operations Production Manager develops and delivers, on behalf of the General Manager, the effective planning and execution of all tasks required for the day-to-day operation of Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. They are accountable for the resources and operational control to ensure the integrity and performance of the asset, in a safe, efficient, and sustainable manner, maximising the commercial benefit within legal requirements to the Joint Venture Partners and Wider RWE Renewables business.

Role Description;

  • Responsible for overseeing the site production team consisting of 30+ personnel including the development of strategy, recruitment and training of experienced personnel, ensuring site production resource needs are met on a 24-hour basis year-round
  • Responsible for production volumes worth over £200m/yr and handling the delivery of the key aspects of service contracts to ROW, value circa £10m/yr including financial planning & budget management in the annual MTP process and monthly processes to deliver the business plan targets
  • Work with the General Manager to ensure safe location and systems of work for employees as well as development and maintenance of key site operational procedures and processes
  • Accountable for ensuring Wind Turbine Safety Rules & HV Operational Safety Rules are fully complied with at Rampion and also maintaining and increasing team authorisations with RWE safety rules team
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with REMIT regulations including overseeing audits and managing any other required wind farm control regulatory topics and ensuring that environmental systems are compliant with statutory and company requirements
  • Planning and delivering maintenance and outages in liaison with internal and external agencies including the OFTO and stewardship of competent resources and manpower including identification, investigation and rectification of defects, incidents, and near hits in both operations and HSSE
  • The General Manager’s delegated authority whilst the General manager is absent, Lead responsibility for operational decisions affecting the plant consulting with the General Manager and Engineering Manager as appropriate, and supporting the management of ROW Joint Venture Partners to deliver excellent customer service
  • Acting as fisheries Liaison officer which includes organising and leading meetings with key fisheries stakeholders and developing the relationships with them
  • Work flexibly within a team environment and be the lead response lead response in the case of a site emergency working at all times within the business’s strategic, financial, and policy guidelines
  • Work closely with other members of the business including Rampion 2 development project and maintain good links with other operational sites to facilitate business improvements and establish companywide working practices

Role Requirements

  • A technical or business-focused degree or equivalent, chartered status preferred with an appropriate professional institute
  • An extensive understanding of wind farm and or power station operations and experience in formally delivering services to customers under contractual relationships
  • Knowledge of current legal requirements, policies and procedures that affect the management of offshore wind farms
  • Contract management skills to enable effective working relationships and financial and commercial awareness
  • An extensive understanding of health, security safety, and environmental (HSSE) legislation and standards
  • Enhanced communication skills and the ability to evaluate performance, develop people, and motivate people and a team
  • The confidence to challenge established practices, suggesting imaginative solutions to problems
  • High interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders
  • Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising, resource management, and a long-term strategic focus
  • A proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data, and drawing appropriate conclusions
