We are shortlisting this week for this Reading Support Mentor position.Reading Support Mentor – key information English Graduate roleExcellent role prior to teacher trainingWork with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basisFull-time role for one academic yearWork Monday – Friday, school hours, paid up to £500 per weekSeptember start – interviewing ASAP Person Specification – Reading Support Mentor 2:1 or above English degreeYou must be available from September 2024 – July 2025Experience is working with children is not necessary, however any previous tutoring experience would be advantageousResilience, determination and commitment is key to this roleWillingness to adhere to local safeguarding arrangements, data protection, and other compliance protocols About the role – Reading Support MentorYou will be required to support pupils who have low reading levels and need intervention to increase their achievements. You will set short term goals with the class teachers for individual pupils and support the pupils in achieving these. This role has a mixture of pastoral and academic duties so you will have a variety of experience across the whole school. In addition to this you will assist the class teacher in lessons ensuring progress is being made.This is a warm and welcoming secondary school in Wakefield that is passionate about providing a first-class education for their pupils.
