REBAR TEAM LEADER

Purpose of the role:


Lead and provide technical support and guidance to the engineering team responsible for keeping the 3D reinforcement models up to date, placing steel orders and managing steel deliveries to site. This includes but not limited to monitoring the day-to-day activities of the team, preparing/reviewing steel logistic reports to the Project Building Leads etc.


Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:


  • Participate in meetings and be the main point of contact between the Heat Sink rebar team and the site prefab yard. Agree on the reinforcement prefabrication schedule. Review and approve solutions to unforeseen technical and logistical issues to ensure that the reinforcement prefab elements are delivered fit for purpose and on schedule. Strive for process improvements. (Heat Sink/Prefab review meeting once a week)
  • Participate in meetings and be the main point of contact between the Heat Sink rebar team and the Avonmouth steel storage yard. Monitor the day-to-day management of steel orders and delivery requests and ensure that any issues with deliveries are mitigated, properly reported and/or escalated to the Project Building Leads if necessary. (Avonmouth loads planning meeting – twice a week)
  • Participate in program meetings for each of the Heat Sink buildings, monitor the reinforcement order activations, call backs and any other reinforcement related subjects. Have an understanding of the greater picture of reinforcement logistics and provide advice when needed. These are meetings chaired by the building Project Managers, and attendees include Construction Managers, Project Engineers, and the rebar Team Section Engineer responsible for the building. (once a week meeting for each of the buildings)
  • Participate in production meetings with the building Project Leads and Project Managers where reinforcement outputs are discussed, and any wider steel reinforcement subjects for the whole of Heat Sink are raised. (daily meeting)
  • Participate in meeting with the central BYLOR Team Rebar, to confirm activations, stock balances and any other subjects from the supplier. (Team Rebar meeting – once a week, Heat Sink/ERL meeting – once a week)

Technical Skills:

  • Relevant year’s experience of civil engineering roles or large complex projects
  • Experience of managing people in project environments
  • A strong communicator with the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate others

  • Presents a professional image and promotes the values of the project


Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.


Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
