The Role:

As a part of the People and Culture team, you would be responsible for managing the hiring process for freelance and zero-hours workers. Working closely with the People Experience Lead and Disability Services team, the role emphasises fairness, unbiased recruitment, and accessibility for candidates from diverse backgrounds.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Posting Job Advertisements: Prepare and post job advertisements on various platforms including professional sites, job sites, and social media to attract a diverse pool of candidates.
  • CV Screening: Assist appointing managers, if required, in screening CVs to identify potential candidates.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update the company's database and HR system with relevant candidate information and updates.
  • Reference Checks: Obtain references for candidates and ensure they are adequate.
  • Candidate Networking: Engage with candidates through phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings to build relationships and assess suitability for roles.
  • Initial Phone Screens: Conduct initial phone screens with candidates to evaluate basic qualifications and fit for the role.
  • Interview Scheduling: Schedule calls and interviews, managing the calendar for all hiring teams and candidates.
  • Candidate Communication: Communicate promptly with candidates throughout the hiring process and assist them during in-person interviews.
  • Recruitment Software: Utilise recruiting software, such as LinkedIn, to keep track of open roles and manage candidate pipelines.
  • Administrative Tasks: Send out bulk emails (e.g., confirming receipt of applications, rejection emails) and handle paperwork (e.g., offer letters).
  • Compliance Checks: Ensure successful candidates have the right to work in the UK and carry out appropriate DBS checks if required.
  • Candidate Experience: Promote a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Bias-Free Process: Ensure every stage of the recruitment process is free from bias and aligns with the organisation's values.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Administrative or Clerical Experience: Previous experience in administrative or clerical roles.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to handle multiple priorities and conflicting tasks.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Issue Resolution: Ability to identify and resolve issues as they arise during the hiring process.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with candidates and internal stakeholders.
  • Office 365 Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of Office 365 packages for managing tasks and communication.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work with minimum supervision and take initiative when necessary.


Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Recruitment Team Experience: Previous experience working in a recruitment team.
  • Applicant Tracking System (ATS) Experience: Experience using an applicant tracking system to manage candidate applications and workflows.
