12-18 Month Contract

This role has been created to work with the existing HR and L&D team with a view to implement and act on the recommendations that came out of a review. This will vary from strategic work such as updating the existing Recruitment Policy and create an overall guidance document/ Standard Recruitment Operating Procedure for managers to more technical tasks by supporting the HR Project Manager with sourcing and procuring/building new ATS system ensuring it can deliver on our EDI reporting commitment. There will also be creative elements of the role where collaboration with Internal Comms and external design agencies may be required to create an image to external applicants where the Commission is seen as a first-class employer, which is competitive, modern and inclusive.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead on the Recruitment Project Stream of the People Strategy in order to develop an inclusive Recruitment Plan with a focus on fair recruitment training free from unconscious bias, and with a focus on values and the Commission???s culture charter. Based on the recommendations from the Recruitment Review, update the existing Recruitment Policy and create an overall guidance document/ Standard Recruitment Operating Procedure for managers
  • Together with HR Project Manager and L&D manager trial the system, set up demos for super users/key stakeholders ensuring sustainable integration with the new system and create and share accessible, visual and plain English user guides for the new ATS system. In addition, design/deliver various forms of training on the new system as well as other forms of recruitment training ensuring anyone involved in hiring staff have been trained first.
  • Encourage and support HR in reassessing its strategic approach to supporting role promotion. This should include its central role and advice in relation to recruitment and temp agencies; its core advertising offer for all roles; and a clear approach to build-out options on specific roles.
  • Improve the candidate experience by preparing HR for a move to application by CV and supporting statement at the earliest opportunity practicable, considering the ongoing desire for anonymity, effective processing, and improved guidance to candidates.
  • Establish a process where the recruiting manager continues engagement with successful candidates from notifying them of their success through to day one ??? aside from formal checks and confidential information handled by HR ??? to ensuring good and clear preparations are in place for day one, including proportionate information provision, and to build relationship.
  • Develop a process where the Commission continues engagement with strong candidates/alumni/silver medallists ensuring we have a high calibre, diverse talent pool who we can reach out to and draw upon during events, elections etc.

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of 5 years??? experience working in a senior Recruitment/Talent Acquisition role in a fast paced environment
  • Previous experience of leading on Recruitment Strategies and Initiatives aimed at promoting candidate attraction and engagement and evidence of leading on and promoting EDI initiatives resulting in a more diverse pool of candidates and appointments
  • Diverse communication and interpersonal experience; with the ability to adapt your communication style/method to effectively reach the audience
  • Good understanding how to use Social media and other platforms to engage with candidates and sell the image of the Commission.
