Job summary Were thrilled to announce a rareopening for Nurses at The Lighthouse in Lancashire. The Lighthouse is a 4bedded child and adolescent mental health unit based in Darwen, Lancashire. Theservice is an independent hospital delivered by Associated Wellbeing. Theservice aims to provide step-down from child and adolescent mental healthinpatient units. The Lighthouse is in a privileged position to have itsown inhouse multi-disciplinary team made up of Nurses, Clinical Psychologist,Consultant Psychiatrist and Registered Social Worker. To assess plan, implement and evaluate nursing care. To coordinate the nursing activity of the placement over the span of individual shifts. To ensure that the needs of the children, young people and families are met. To contribute to the development the service. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESCommunication and Relationship skills To maintain confidentiality of information regarding children, young people, families and individual staff at all times. Provide and receive complex or sensitive information. To work within and promote collaborative and partnership working, with both colleagues and the client group. To promote and maintain effective communication and positive working relationships throughout the placement and wider services, both internal and external to the service To promote and maintain effective communication and positive therapeutic relationships with children, young people and families. To act as an advocate for children young people and families. To attend and participate within regular placement meetings. To liaise with and report issues, concerns or untoward incidents to the nurse in charge, deputy / registered placement Manager, Knowledge, Training and Experience To have RMN / RN (Mental Health) or RNLD / RN (Learning Disabilities) registration and use this knowledge in the daily care of children, young people and families. To carry out the duties as directed by the NMC and within the Code of Professional Conduct. Able to assess, plan implement and evaluate programmes of care for children, young people and families who require our provision. Act as a preceptor / mentor for newly registered staff nurses and student nurses. Identify own personal and professional needs through the personal development review and clinical supervision process. To ensure that personal mandatory and statutory training requirements are met in accordance with Sheffield Childrens NHS Foundation Trust policies. Develop skills and knowledge in assessing clinical risk and its management and are able to interpret client clinical presentation information and take appropriate action. Develop skills and knowledge in the safe administration of medicines including those that are classed as Controlled as per Trust policies. Analytical and Judgement Skills To contribute to the analysis and decision making in relation to client and environmental risk and care in complex situations. In conjunction with colleagues analyse children, young peoples and families immediate presentations. Planning and Organisational To coordinate the nursing activity over the span of a shift. To act in the role of care coordinator / named nurse for individual children and young people. In conjunction with colleagues devise care / treatment plans. To incorporate planned interventions and treatments into the care of children and young people and families over the duration of a shift. Physical Skills Carry out nursing procedures requiring highly developed physical skills where accuracy is important. Demonstrate and maintain skills in basic life support. To be trained in and utilise techniques and strategies for the safe physical management of children and young people. Person Specification Qualifications Essential You must be a qualified RGN, RMN or RLDN and hold a current registration with the NMC You must have previous experience in working with children and young people, ideally in a residential or inpatient setting.
