Job Title: Regulation & Compliance Subject Matter Expert - Performance System Integration Salary: £59,952 + Dependent Upon Experience Location: Peterborough Benefits: 25 days annual leave Up to 18% Bonus 600 GBP monthly car allowance Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution, up to 10% Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution. About IPSD Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary IPSD has an opening for a Regulation & Compliance Subject Matter Expert within our Performance Systems Integration team, located in the United Kingdom primarily working from our Peterborough Campus. The Performance Systems Integration (PSI) team are responsible for end-to-end definition of the performance system: Requirements - System architecture, calibration requirements and control system definition Detailed technical trade-offs and control system development, through use of simulation and analytical tools Demonstrate product quality, emissions conformance, and product signoff PSI lead the engine performance development cycle; from new technology concept selection, through to development of new products and then supporting and maintaining our current products. PSI also play a key role in integrating our products into customer applications. What You Will Do The Regulation & Compliance Subject Matter Expert role will be focused on the IPSD’s current and future products, and the successful candidate will work alongside other highly talented Engineers, utilising their technical & product knowledge along with their deep understanding of emissions regulations to: Translate emissions regulations into Engineering requirements. Provide advanced technical guidance to drive robust outcomes. Oversee robust approval of product sign-off through process execution. Continuously maintain, improve and create processes, through close collaboration with our partners Provide training and coaching to a global team. Support global alignment across Caterpillar. Act as a trusted advisor on regulation and compliance to Engineering and Product Management teams and Stakeholders The successful application will work as part of a cross functional team, collaborating with partners in Systems, Component, Performance and Electronics, to deliver world class products. The individual will have high personal standards, an attention to detail and a strong moral compass. What you have Analytical Thinking Level Extensive Experience: Approaches a situation or problem by fully defining the problem and determining its significance. Takes a data driven approach to problem solving, using data strong analysis skills. Knowledge of statistical methods and Design of Experiments would be beneficial to the role. Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions. Coaches Engineers, product leaders & team members in this analytical approach Effective Communications Level Extensive Experience: Ability to communicate clearly (verbal & written) with a cross functional team, avoiding technical jargon when inappropriate. High standards of documentation in order to capture decisions and outcomes for future review Able to coach others on subject matter to deliver robust outcomes. Problem Solving Level Extensive Experience: Uses problem solving methodologies (e.g. Pareto charts, Ishikawa etc). to structure problem solving approach Proven ability to develop and improve Engineering processes, on the job, implementing a LEAN philosophy. Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort, and coaches other team members in best practice Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems, with minimal direction. A focus on quality and attention to detail. Independently lead small technical / compliance projects (personal delivery or 3-4 people) with defined scope. Technical Excellence Level Extensive Experience: Deep experience of Engine and / or Aftertreatment performance development Knowledge of emissions legislation (preference off-highway, but any relevant experience is beneficial to the role) Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence Some knowledge of engine control systems and their development is beneficial Effectively performs the technical job aspects, while keeping up-to-date on technical and process best practice, while coaching others Required Qualifications: An accredited Engineering/Science/Technology, Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or PhD What You Will Get We look forward to welcoming the successful candidate to our dynamic, diverse and friendly team.
