Aon are currently recruiting a Risk & Compliance Business Partner to join our team in London. This is a hybrid role, which offers flexibility to work both virtually at home and from our London office. The Risk & Compliance Business Partner will be primarily responsible for supporting the senior members in providing advice, oversight and challenge on issues and risks, including involvement in the development of new products, business and/or operating models and functional processes and facilitate periodic risk assessments undertaken by Solution Lines/Business Areas, in line with the wider Enterprise Risk Management framework.

About the Role

Your impact as a Risk & Compliance Business Partner:

  • Act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for any risk, compliance or governance queries.
  • Support the senior members in providing advice, oversight and challenge on issues and risks, including involvement in the development of new products, business and/or operating models and functional processes.
  • Facilitate periodic risk assessments undertaken by Solution Lines/Business Areas, in line with the wider Enterprise Risk Management framework.
  • Liaise with other risk and compliance areas and act as the ‘facilitator’ between these and the business to ensure the business has access to the right second line resource.
  • Build enduring relationship with key business stakeholders and help promote a risk & compliance aware culture.
  • Build awareness, through the wider Risk & Compliance team, of key regulatory changes and support the impacted areas through design and implementation.
  • Support and contribute to the Business Partner Team strategy and wider Risk & Compliance initiatives.
  • Responsibility for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

About you

Your knowledge and expertise:

  • Demonstrable regulatory compliance experience within the London Market Insurance industry, ideally within a Lloyd’s of London environment.
  • An understanding of the London insurance market and wholesale insurance business including the challenges it faces.
  • An understanding of the principles of good risk management practice from the second line of defence
  • General awareness of the international sanctions landscape
  • General awareness of international (re)insurance licensing requirements or overseas regulation criteria.
  • Dynamic and proactive bringing energy and enthusiasm
  • Confidence and credibility to work collaboratively with the organisation’s most senior management and directors.
  • Ability to critically analyse regulatory rules and guidance, including internally produced summaries thereof, and interpret their impact on different business areas.
  • Able to demonstrate commercial awareness, general business acumen, and basic strategic planning.
  • Ability to contribute to and influence decision making in view of a business area’s financial priorities and market conditions.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to encourage positive action in an effective diplomatic fashion.
