Job Description

A top international law firm in London is recruiting for a risk lawyer with experience in commercial contracts, procurement and data protection. The role will work closely with other risk lawyers in the team and report to the Director of Risk.

The focus of the role is managing and overseeing the firm's commercial contracts with its suppliers, including ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and mitigating legal risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service contracts, NDAs and licensing agreements.
  • Review client terms and proposed amendments to the firm's terms of business, engagement terms, data protection compliance (including responding to data subject requests and dealing with data breaches) and updating risk policies.
  • Identify and assess potential risks in contracts and procurement activities and provide advice during negotiations to minimise risks.
  • Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
  • Advise and oversee the legal aspects of the firm's procurement processes.
  • Provide advice, guidance and training to internal stakeholders and teams on contract management, procurement issues and legal compliance.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, 5+ PQE.
  • Experience in commercial law, particularly in procurement, and drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • A good understanding of applicable data protection legislation.
  • The successful candidate will be working in-house for a law firm or professional services firm or a fee earner looking to move to an in-house role.
