Job Description

Safety & Compliance Officer – AOC and ATO


1.    Compliance

a.    Managing the AOC and ATO Audit Plan and being the lead auditor for these approvals

b.    Undertaking Internal Audits and audits of sub-contractor organisations, primarily for the AOC and ATO

c.    Oversight of the management and closure of findings and observations so that they cover the corrective and root cause corrections required.

d.    Prepare Compliance Monitoring performance data.

e.    Generate audit checklists in Centrik, particularly for AOC and ATO audits.

f.     Support the approval of Providers primarily to support operations and training.

g.    Be pro-active concerning compliance issues to all Company management and personnel.

h.    Providing advice on compliance issues.

i.      Support external auditors

j.      Deputising for the Head of Safety and Compliance when they are not available for the AOC and ATO

2.    Safety

a.    To promote and live the behaviours that show we always have safety at the core of everything that we do

b.    Working with the Head of Safety and Compliance and Safety Reporting Manager promoting aviation safety across all activities

c.    Carrying out investigations and associated root cause analysis related mainly to operational and training safety cases


d.    Supporting the process of identification, documenting and management of hazards through risk assessments and associated actions

e.    Supporting the provision of safety and safety performance data and the monitoring of Safety Performance Indicators

f.     Supporting the Safety Reporting Manager in the management of Safety Action Groups

g.    Supporting the production of Safety Documentation, Information, Notices and Newsletters

h.    Supporting the development and provision of safety training, including support to recurrent training in conjunction with other safety department staff

i.      Providing advice on safety matters


Highly Desirable


Have a reasonable understanding of CAA Regulations with regard to Operations and particularly those elements related to the Management System

Trained Auditor, experienced in undertaking internal audits covering CAA/EASA Regulations

Experience in the investigation of occurrences (Trained Investigator)

Experienced in the use of Centrik for Safety and Compliance management

At least 2 years experience in a safety or compliance role for a helicopter company

At least 5 years experience in either flight or ground operations, maintenance or continuing airworthiness management for a helicopter company

Located within commuting distance of Biggin Hill


Essential

Have the qualities to be able to improve the safety culture and gain the respect of staff in the way that they handle situations

Have analytical and problem-solving skills

Be effective at oral and written communication


Have an understanding of human and organisational factors

At least 5 years experience in either flight or ground operations, maintenance or continuing airworthiness management for an aviation related company

Willing to undertake the required training to gain competency in safety and compliance tasks

Located within commuting distance of either Liskeard, Gloucester or Boscombe Down
