Based in Northampton, this role will report directly to the Senior Sales Manager, in the UK. You will be responsible for Managing Key Customer accounts as well as developing and growing sales for Wabtec’s Heat Transfer and Energy Solutions Group, within heavy-duty diesel and gas engine applications, for customers in the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Rail, Mining, and Marine Markets.

Salary: £Competitive

Location: Northampton, (NN4 8HJ)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00am to 16:30pm, and Friday 08:00am to 15:30pm

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

The ideal candidate will not only excel in client relations but go beyond mere transactional interactions. They will play an integral role in, fostering and enriching client relationships with Wabtec’s most valuable clients building on long term strategic partnerships and revenue growth. This role involves driving revenue growth, adept problem-solving, facilitating seamless internal coordination from customer interactions to operational execution, and demonstrating innovative thinking while consistently pursuing avenues for continuous improvement.

What will your typical day look like?

The daily routine of the key account manager will be varied supporting all aspects of the interaction between company and client. A large part of the key account manager is to prepare and deliver technical proposals and quotations, with the support of the internal engineering teams.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor of Science in Business or Engineering (or equivalent);
  • Proven technical sales background, preferably within the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Rail, Mining or Marine markets.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, particularly heavy equipment utilising diesel and gas engines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with aptitude in building relationships at all organisational levels of staff.
  • Excellent negotiator.
  • Strong organisational and Microsoft Office computer skills, with attention to detail.
  • Travel (domestic and international) to customer facilities, tradeshows, conferences, and job sites will be required.
