Based within the Information Security and Identity and Access Management (IS and IDAM) division, the Security Improvement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of ongoing assurance and maintenance of security projects. The Security Improvement Coordinator will be expected to plan at both a higher level, as well as get involved in operational details to ensure successful delivery of information security related change.The post holder will also be a key member of the divisional leadership team, contributing to strategic direction, anticipating challenges, driving delivery and helping to optimise performance required to ensure the security of new and existing services. Security Improvement Coordinator Responsibilities Provides effective project leadership to colleagues involved in delivering information security change, ensuring that team members are motivated and possess the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver the desired outcomes. Supports the development of business case justifications and cost benefit analysis for proposed areas of information security-related spending and initiatives. Effectively estimates costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of security projects to agreed terms of reference. Makes clear, pragmatic and manageable plans for security change using programme and project management methodologies, learning and iterating frequently. This includes directing research and innovation on potential information security solutions and, where applicable, implementation. Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of information security projects, engaging with stakeholders and actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses and manages risks and issues which could affect the success of the project. Ensures that delivered security changes are implemented within these criteria. Ensures that information security projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed. Evaluates and makes recommendations/decisions on technical security options as appropriate. Experience of delivering technology projects safely, securely and to plan (infrastructure and/or security projects preferred). Experience of creating clear, pragmatic and manageable operational strategies and plans for project delivery and tracking and reporting on progress. Awareness of matrix-managing projects and managing resource across the project lifecycle.
