A highly reputable Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Farnborough is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher of English to join their Secondary phase and permanent staff list from September 2024. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with special educational needs, within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students in the Secondary phase.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing individualized support and interventions to ensure academic and personal development.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other professionals, parents, and students.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that fosters learning and promotes student well-being.
  • Work closely with colleagues, therapists, and external agencies to support the holistic development of students.
  • Contribute to the school’s extracurricular activities and initiatives, enhancing the overall educational experience for students.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching English, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, and familiarity with the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for inclusive education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Dedication to maintaining the high standards and ethos of the school.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Additional qualifications or training in SEN education.
  • Experience in using assistive technology and innovative teaching resources to support SEN learners.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
  • A passion for literature and language, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
