Main Purpose of the Job


To support the Finance Controller with general ledger maintenance and month end processing.



Key Responsibilities


  • Responsibility for financial ledger and accounts according to UK GAAP: structure, integrity, balance sheet reconciliations, reports (including reports & templates development)
  • Responsible for supporting the 3 UK sites; Compton, Leicester and Billingham
  • All non-AR/AP ledger postings: all bank transactions, fixed assets, loans, grants, payroll, accruals & prepayments, stock movements (limited – not full responsibility for stock), expenses, dividends, intercompany adjustments
  • Cash & Company credit card expenses processing & ledger input
  • Month End preparation
  • VAT returns preparation & submission
  • P11D preparation/submission to HMRC for ‘Benefits in Kind’ employer NI and employee NI/tax liabilities
  • Loans/HP schedules
  • Grants schedules & de Minimis (EU fair competition legislation) records
  • Fixed Assets Register & depreciation
  • Liaise with 3P payroll service; submit payroll instructions & expense reclaims; check payroll submissions
  • Suppliers/Customers to cover for accounts payable & receivable



Candidate Requirements


  • Extensive experience of all accounting functions
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) is preferred - but not essential
  • Experience in a year end audit.
  • Experience with month end closing to strict deadline.
  • Experience in Group VAT Submission.
  • Worked with SAP FI/CO
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
  • Advanced Excel & Microsoft Office skills, experience of accounting systems and writing reports.
  • Good organisational experience with the ability to prioritise conflicting workloads and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Managed an AP/AR function would be desirable



This role would be a hybrid position, working part of the week from our site in Compton, Berkshire. You will need your own transport to be able to get to our site.
