Join the Powertrain Team based in Bristol as a Senior Battery Management Software Engineer and help us to achieve our mission of pioneering electric aviation.

What success will look like for you, as a Senior Battery Management Software Engineer

As a Senior Battery Management Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the validation, verification and certification of the new BMS Software running on the eVTOL (Electric vertical take-off landing) battery pack. We'll need you to develop low-level functions and driver unit test software for low-level verification and validate and verify safety-critical software. You'll also review safety-critical software functions, create high and low-level software specifications and run hands-on testing and de-bugging when required at HW level. Cross-team and cross-functional working is an important part of the role, as you'll support colleagues integrating and validating into the aircraft, performing design reviews with the hardware engineers and assist in monitoring team assignments and deliverables, providing assessments of their work when required.

What would we like you to bring.

We want you to be successful in your role, to achieve this you will need to have proven experience in the development of embedded C with safety-critical systems, Texas instruments, TMS Microcontrollers and strong knowledge of MISRA standards practice and process. You must also have experience within Aerospace certification programs, low-level driver development, and development of bare metal operating systems, with proficiency in protocols including CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C. Functional safety, aircraft or automotive standards such as DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761 are important knowledge areas for this role.

The above is critical to ensure you are successful in the role. Additionally, it would be advantageous if you possess experiencedeveloping and deploying CAN communications, proficiency with ECU software development methodology, process, and toolchains, and experience with ARM-embedded controllers. Knowledge of agile and scrum tools, Atlassian Jira and Bitbucket, or other revision control software would also be advantageous as would experience with requirements management tool and functional safety, aircraft or automotive standards such as IEC 61508 SIL-3 and/or derived requirements.
