Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our team at Transcal Engineering - full-time, on-site in Pershore, England.


As a Senior Buyer, you will play a critical role in managing our procurement processes and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategic sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in supply chain management, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency in procurement systems.


To undertake purchasing and forecasting activities for direct and indirect materials in line with production requirements. To actively manage inventory levels so that we have sufficient stock to support customer demand, whilst minimising excess inventory in order to manage cashflow.


Description

• Exercise the highest degree of discretion and professionalism, when dealing with sensitive data and information

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to optimize procurement processes

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services

• Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements

• Analyze data and generate reports to track procurement performance and identify areas for improvement

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

• Raise and maintain purchase orders for direct and indirect materials to support production requirements

• Provide forecasts and schedules to suppliers where appropriate to maintain ongoing supply in line with customer demands

• Actively manage and report supplier on time delivery performance – fully utilising typical Orderbook management protocols to ensure material availability

• Actively manage an open orderbook to control expenditure in line with customer demand and to support business cashflow

• Liaise with Logistics and Accounts teams to manage Goods-In discrepancies to an effective conclusion

• Monitor material receipts in line with schedules to help minimize Goods-In transaction errors

• Expedite material shortages as required to meet urgent business needs

• Manage inventory levels, seeking opportunities to reduce inventory wherever practicable

• Negotiate pricing and contractual terms with suppliers for new and existing materials and services to drive cost reduction opportunities

• Identify and select new suppliers for materials as and when required

• Manage positive supplier partnership-based relationships

• Focusing on “best practice”, strive for and drive measurable process improvement opportunities

Qualifications

• ‘A’ level qualification or equivalent essential

• Degree educated (Desirable)

• CIPS qualified or working towards


Requirements

• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in the same role and in a similar role and environment

• Aptitude for figures and experience with managing a budget

• Experience of developing and implementing Purchasing processes and procedures which drive improvements in material availability and inventory levels

• Experience of working with an ERP/MRP system

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills

• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions

DESIRABLE

• Previous experience with negotiating
