What you'll do As a Senior Buyer at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in the Commercial team, leading buying activities and ensuring the translation of category strategy into profitable growth for your ranges and those of your teams. Your responsibilities will include range building for large turnover categories, range selection and trading strategy development, and the creation and implementation of a customer-focused product proposition across all channels. Collaborative working with product development, global sourcing teams, and suppliers will be essential to optimise cost and profit. As a coach and leader, you will manage, motivate, and develop the Buying team, while closely collaborating with merchandising counterparts to achieve the category strategy. Ensuring data-driven insights and staying updated with market and competitor activity will be key to driving sales, margin, stock, availability, digital metrics, and customer satisfaction. Along with financial management, you will also manage promotions and events, monitor market trends, optimise stock and supply, and manage channel execution to enhance sales, profitability, and market share. Furthermore, you will be responsible for leading and developing your team, embracing change, and actively supporting key cross-functional projects. Some travel may be required for supplier engagement and business needs. Who you are Strong commercial awareness and previous Buying experience, preferably within a Non-food Omni-channel environment Knowledge of systems and processes in a complex multi-channel environment, adapt at operating across digital, store, catalogue trading, able to balance short and long term objectives to deliver the category plan High degree of commercial acumen with a proven track record of commercial successes within this or other organisations A knowledge and understanding of Legal, competition law, anti-bribery and corruption and Intellectual Property Ability to analyse complex data from multiple sources to drive decisions and strategies Proven track record of delivering results to targets as an individual and within a team Financially astute understands how own business decisions can influence shareholder value, understand financial levers to drive product performance with category responsibility Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving dynamic retail environment Ability to identify market trends and opportunities, at pace Confidence to influence and engage at all levels Effective communicator, presenter, and team player with an ability to bring other with them to deliver the strategy Relevant technical experience for given product range Experience of working with suppliers on a Freight on Board & domestic basis Successful Range builder with a commercial eye, able to influence others to secure a mutually strong position #LI-MB2 2024-09-11 12:29:33
