Job Description:

We are looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gender Healthcare to join the West of England Gender Identity Clinic based at The Laurels in Exeter. This is a new substantive post following substantial investment in the clinic and will form part of a new Clinical Nurse Specialist Team.

Our multi-disciplinary team works with people who have a wide variety of needs related to their gender identity.

We are looking for a team player who enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary setting with highly experienced and skilled staff. Person Specification

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of the interface of psychological and physical aspects of healthcare.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good skills in assessment intervention and evaluation of patients' nursing care.
  • Clinical supervision skills.
  • Knowledge of the Trust's Non-Medical prescribing policy and local procedure.
  • Knowledge of the legal, social, and societal aspects of gender diversity.

Experience

  • Experience of individual patient case management responsibility.
  • Substantial experience of MDT working.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the banding.
  • Line management of staff.
  • Experience of clinical working with transgender and non-binary patients.

Qualifications

  • Non-Medical Prescriber.
  • Maintains current registration with NMC.
  • Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery.
  • Relevant Masters degree or working towards.
  • Demonstrate continued professional development to maintain professional registration.
  • Training in transgender healthcare.
