Join Our Team as a Senior Commercial Officer

Join our team in Ampthill and experience the flexibility of our 4xFlex working pattern, offering a 4 day working week from Monday to Thursday. Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Lead and administer multiple complex acquisitions and relationships. Identify, define, and implement contract revisions and improvements.
  • Timely Execution: Ensure timely completion of all contract actions, including contract summaries and closeouts.
  • Effective Communication: Keep stakeholders informed of current issues and collaborate on mitigation/resolution strategies.
  • Negotiation Expertise: Influence negotiation plans, negotiate terms and conditions on non-standard agreements, and maintain effective control throughout the process.
  • Customer Interface: Act as the main interface between the customer and internal Supply Chain organisation for contract-related matters.
  • Strategic Counsel: Provide advice and counsel to programme staff and contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Analytical Leadership: Serve as the single point of focus for analytical, planning, and negotiation skills for assigned programmes.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare correspondence, presentations, reports, and contract summaries for management briefing.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Demonstrable experience as Commercial Officer / Contracts Officer or similar role
  • Confident at working with minimal supervision from line management and able to manage own workload to meet priority tasks on your responsible programme.
  • Sought out on a regular basis as the “go to person” for subject matter knowledge and analytical skills you possess in the commercial domain.
  • Collaboratively resolves issues within the team as and when they arise and uses own initiative
  • Called upon from time to time to perform special assignments drawing on your commercial knowledge, including contentious issues which require urgent resolution. This may be either an individual or team task.
  • Demonstrate a desire to understand issues which are technical and detailed in nature and you will demonstrate an appetite to resolve problems of varying complexity.
  • Considers meeting deadlines with a quality output essential and be able to identify and de-conflict workload issues with Line Management as and when required so that priority work can be managed.
  • Proactively fact find and construct positions on contractual issues in support of the generation of business cases for opportunities, resolution of issues and finding improved ways of executing commercial business.
  • Comfortably present the commercial position at both internal and external meetings and where appropriate to senior management at Ampthill or the Customer team.
  • Values building and maintaining internal and external relationships and ensures there is regular communication with stakeholders, particularly with the Customer so that open conversations can take place.
  • Receptive to taking on additional tasks, which may not necessarily form part of your strict commercial remit but support career development and/or stretch targets.
  • Displays good time management, ability to produce accurate work and obtain the requisite approvals in accordance with company process.
  • Understands programme/ business area objectives and is able to articulate and support these goals within your daily interactions.
  • Consistently demonstrates Lockheed Core values and places importance of these in all work performed.
