Job Description

We are seeking ahighly motivated and skilled Senior Consultant (Senior Account Manager) to join our Healthcare Communications team, joining a teamof experts in product PR, patient advocacy, crisis management, disease awareness, corporate communications, and media relations.

As our newest Senior Consultant (Senior Account Manager) you will advise Hanover’s clients on media and policy agendas; providing high-quality public relations services, team management and creative contributions towards new business activity including acquisition, development and pitching.You will build effective working relationships with journalists, stakeholders, clients as, and other team members, and work closely with junior and senior colleagues, acting as the key driver of client accounts.

You will have the opportunity to work across multiple exciting therapy areas including infectious disease, immunology, and oncology. Our clients range from top healthcare companies to promising startups, and your work will help improve the lives of patients and healthcare professionals in diverse disciplines.

The role is London-based with a requirement to attend the central-London office three days a week.

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide timely and relevant tactical advice to clients on developing and placing reactive and proactive news stories, commenting to drive coverage in priority media outlets
  • Identify reactive opportunities in the news agenda to secure coverage
  • Plan concepts for and oversee delivery of media events
  • Draft and review high quality media materials for client approval
  • Display exceptional selling-in ability for pitching stories to print and broadcast journalists, as well as digital channels
  • Provide reactive press office services, including drafting media statements for client approval and briefing media spokespeople
  • Identify and advise clients on the most effective way to approach and engage with key target journalists and other stakeholder groups
  • Attend and support meetings between clients and media or valuable stakeholders
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping exercises, evaluating mapping interviews and drafting interview reports making tactical recommendations
  • Deliver specifically assigned areas of new projects to agreed timescales, on budget and to a high quality
  • Be seen as the main proactive driver of agreed accounts/projects
  • Maintain regular client contact including attending and leading client calls/meetings
  • Contribute creatively towards new business pitches and lead brainstorms with the wider team
  • Identify prospective clients or new work streams from existing clients

  • Thorough understanding of the Hanover financial and marketing systems
