Department

The Contract Management Team are responsible for the management of the clients strategic, high value and complex contracts from contract signature to end of life. The team ensures that the suppliers deliver the value, quality and compliance in line with the contract and correct performance when needed. The team manage in-life change to our existing contracts.

The role

We’re looking for a Senior Contract Manager who is a leader of people and has experience of working in a complex operational and commercial focussed environment with robust controls/governance. The Senior Contract Managers focus will be on the day-to-day management of a team of Contract Managers and Support Specialists in addition to a complex portfolio of supplier contracts. Whilst also delivering best value to the client and its customers.

  • As our Senior Contract Manager, you will: Lead and effectively manage a team of Contract Managers and Contract Support Specialists in addition to having full accountability for their portfolio of up to 15 complex supplier contracts (with an average lifecycle of 10years) that are critical for the running of the client network and meeting security standards with a value of >£100m. Working closely with the wider Operations and Commercial teams to ensure a joined up, coherent contribution to business plans and expected outcomes
  • Ensure that the operational delivery and monitoring of all contracts within the portfolio and ensuring supplier performance is being fulfilled, including: Managing team to ensure Governance and Material Controls (MCs) processes are complied with in accordance with critical governance and audit policy/procedures
  • Managing performance to agreed SLAs and target KPI
  • Ensuring all other contractual obligations (up to 2000 per supplier contract) are fulfilled and reviewed in line with the contract
  • Managing contract exit or renewal to ensure minimal impact on business operations while liaising closely with Business Partners and Procurement team with value of up to £100m
  • Ensure all risks for your portfolio of contracts are logged, tracked and mitigations put in place where possible. Feed into relevant reporting in a timely manner
  • Be the escalation point of contact for contract and commercial matters including disputes and issues internally and externally for their portfolio of contracts lifecycle (each with values of >£10m)
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for cost savings and cost avoidance. Lead development of and contribution to knowledge management and best practices for the contract management of suppliers
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the In Life Management Strategy and its ongoing objectives. Maintaining a deep knowledge of critical contracts within your remit and producing high quality business cases and board papers where required with a value of >£100m

We’re looking for:

Technical

  • Ability to monitor contract performance with SLA / KPIs, manage contract disputes, oversee contract amendment processes and lead contract closeout process
  • Experience in driving and managing the compliance to contracts
  • Experience of managing delivery of contracts in scope, identifying and managing contract related risks and issues, and implementing contract changes
  • Solution driven, innovator, cost and value led
  • Experience of supporting operational and commercial stakeholders with market insights from knowledge gained from contracted suppliers
  • Strong attention to details and proven ability to work in an open / auditable way fitting to a regulated environment

Interpersonal

  • Strong written and verbal communication. Able to communicate effectively with junior and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
