Head Resourcing is pleased to collaborate with one of the UK's leading pensions and mutual funds providers, currently seeking an adept Senior Developer to augment their team based in Glasgow. In this pivotal role, you'll spearhead the design and implementation of coding solutions, crucial to both project initiatives and day-to-day operations across the organization.

Your responsibilities will encompass guiding project teams, collaborating closely with business stakeholders and analysts to offer valuable technical insights, and ensuring the seamless design and development of intricate solutions. Proficiency in SQL coding, particularly in SSIS, and a deep understanding of relational database design will be paramount. Moreover, you'll serve as a reservoir of technical knowledge, conducting thorough code reviews and executing production implementations using GitHub pipelines.

As a Senior Developer, you'll engage in a spectrum of development projects, spanning both Business as Usual and Project workstreams. Your expertise will extend to providing Tier 3 application support and being instrumental in optimizing existing processes within core Policy Admin Systems.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the design and development of innovative coding solutions, offering enhancements to existing processes within the organisation's core systems.
  • Conduct data manipulation and analysis utilising SQL and Oracle tools, while also maintaining stored procedures.
  • Develop and maintain SSIS packages, troubleshoot SSIS/SQL issues, and ensure adherence to development lifecycles and release processes.
  • Undertake requirements gathering, analysis, effort estimation, and solution design for new SQL projects, aligning with business objectives.
  • Execute rigorous testing, deployment, and maintenance of SQL projects and fixes, adhering to best practices.
  • Lead code reviews, provide recommendations, and facilitate seamless implementation of code fixes into production environments.
  • Contribute to the implementation and upkeep of CI/CD pipelines, leveraging GitHub as the primary Source Control repository.
  • Offer technical expertise in resolving complex problems, providing Tier 3 Application support, and ensuring timely project deliveries.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently, meeting development deadlines, and communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders.


Knowledge, Skills & Core Competencies Required:

  • Proficient in T-SQL/PL-SQL development with advanced skills in SSIS.
  • Familiarity with XSL and advantageous understanding of Java and APIs.
  • Experience using GitHub and CI/CD pipelines for version control and automated deployments.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and a logical approach to development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, eagerness to learn, and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • Knowledge of Life/Pensions products and familiarity with workflow solutions within Application Software would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience in wealth management, life administration, savings, and investments domains is desirable.
