What you'll be doing
Our UK Balfour Beatty Major Projects business has a terrific opportunity for a Senior Estimator initially within our Sizewell C Civil Works Alliance from our headquarters based in Canary Wharf, London. The Senior Estimator will be supporting the Managing Estimator to develop estimates from 1st Principles associated with the Balfour Beatty portion of the Sizewell C Civil Works Alliance. Undertake estimates in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
- Review customers' drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour, and equipment.
- Oversee and/or interrogate design options and value solutions and, if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
- Record assumptions and identify risks and opportunities including developing the risk evaluation from a pricing/budgetary point of view.
- Liaise with the project team & supply chain to develop and understand methodologies and principles proposed.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- Civils/Infrastructures projects background.
- Experience in estimating on marine and tunnelling operations a major advantage.
- Chartered e.g. ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB.
- Candy estimating software knowledge.
- Reasonable understanding of the principles of Lean Construction and 5D cost planning.
