Senior Facility Design Engineer

Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire

Package: £42,650 - £65,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Opportunities are now available for individuals from either Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, C&I, Civil Structural & Architectural (CS&A), Process Engineering, or a general background in Building Services who have progressed into Engineering Management, specifically the area of Design Engineering Management.

Successful Candidates will be responsible for:

  • Engineering design solutions which fully comply with all AWE and UK legal requirements together with AWE business case needs

  • Establishing and maintaining (and deliver designs in accordance with) the Design Control Plans for projects

  • Monitoring the co-ordination of engineering design activities of all design houses and other suppliers of engineering design contributing to the projects

  • Monitoring Project changes as they affect Engineering Design Delivery and the effect of these changes against the initial budget and programme

  • Contributing to integrated safety when reviewing engineering designs and ensure that all technical and design risks are identified and appropriately managed

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • An understanding of the design process for building services, facilities, process plant and equipment

  • Previous design management experience of multiple or discrete engineering packages of works that provide a design solution to a set of requirements in either the Conventional or Nuclear industries

  • Good oral, written and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for report, documentation and letter writing

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communication to all levels to both internal and external personnel

Ideally, we would expect candidates to have a Degree or equivalent qualification in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent vocational qualification.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
