BBC Nations is one of the largest divisions within the BBC - delivering local, regional and nations services to millions of people each day across the UK on television, radio and mobile platforms. Nations operate from over 50 locations across all four UK nations, with major bases in Glasgow, Cardiff, Salford, Bristol, Birmingham, London and Belfast. We invest almost £450m on content each year and employ almost 5500 staff.

We commission a range of content in a wide variety of genres on television and radio: from local radio to the BBC Scotland channel, from regional news to Radio Foyle, from Angels of the North to Keeping Faith and Guilt. Our digital role is also vital for millions of daily users and we produce content across BBC News, BBC Sport, BBC iPlayer, BBC Bitesize and BBC Sounds.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to partner with our Nations division, specifically in England. As the Senior Finance Business Partner, this is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the Nations Finance leadership team and a member of the BBC England Executive Team.

BBC England is the nation's broadcaster, providing a wide range of English content for audiences across England, as well as flagship programmes for the BBC Network.

Role Responsibility

This is a senior position within BBC’s Nations Finance Team, working closely with and influencing senior management to drive business performance via the provision of objective advice, insight and challenge effectively acting as a catalyst for change.

This role will be instrumental in driving forward change across the Nations Division in complex areas of the business by assisting in defining financial strategy and delivering high profile corporate initiatives, and delivering effective financial management, control and advisory support in their divisional businesses to optimise business performance. To take ownership for ensuring best value for licence payers by using an evidenced based approach to identify improvements in the business model and then effectively to project manage these improvements with stakeholders across the business the business.

The role reports to the Finance Director for Nations, and works closely with the Nations Leadership team and wider Finance community to deliver improvement and aim to maximise the impact of Finance.

Are you the right candidate?

  • Experience of working in a highly results focused and complex organisation, undergoing significant change
  • Experience of working with financial accounting systems and the ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex financial data to a range of audiences
  • Experience of providing direction and managerial support to team of finance professionals, including Finance Business Partners, Finance Business Analysts and other junior members of staff
  • Track record of strong and effective financial management and control, budgeting, forecasting and long range planning and analysis
  • Experience of financial modelling and supporting the business in strategic decision making
  • High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards; effective at Senior Management level, with strong oral and written communication skills
