+ Essential Job Functions


Key Responsibilities


Quality Management System Development:

  • Develop, re-write, and update all aspects of the company’s Quality Management System for the Flavours team in conjunction with the Production Team Leader

Formulation and Dilution:

  • Formulate flavour complexes.
  • Dilute cyclodextrins with excipients (sugar or cyclodextrins) to produce accurate and specific levels of flavour suitable for various sectors.

Scientific Research:

  • Conduct scientific literature searches on a range of topics in support of both internal and external client projects.

Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Production Team Leader to investigate and problem-solve process improvements.

New Product Development:

  • Develop new products and flavours based on customer-driven demand.

Supervision and Maintenance:

  • Supervise the ordering and delivery of supplies.
  • Supervise the testing and calibration of equipment to ensure optimum results.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical stocks.

Flavour Standard Complexes:

  • Assist with the production of flavour standard complexes using cyclodextrins (nano chemistry).
  • Maintain stock of all chemicals, chemical register, and associated HACCP documentation.

Team Support:

  • Support the team with actions and technical issues.
  • Input packaging data into the computer.
  • Maintain good hygiene and housekeeping practices.
  • Assist with all other flavour-related tasks.

Procedure Maintenance:

  • Maintain and update procedures within the flavours team.

Collaborative Work:

  • Work as part of the flavours team on a variety of production, testing, formulation, dispensing, and packaging tasks.


+ Education, Experience & Personal Characteristics


Essential:

  • Education: Minimum of a Good degree (2:1 or 1st) in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Food Science).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of industrial experience, preferably in a relevant flavour science or laboratory management role. Demonstrated success in a management role is essential.


Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision-making abilities.


Desirable:

  • Education: Master's or Ph.D. in a related field.
  • Experience: Training or qualification in management. Experience in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems.
  • Skills: Experience in scientific research and flavour formulation. Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.

  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Leatherhead-based
