Job Type:   Permanent

Location:  Birmingham, Edinburgh or London /Hybrid, with normally a minimum of 2 days a week working in the office and the rest working at home. We have an incredible opportunity at Phoenix Group to join our Group Internal Audit Team as a Senior Internal Audit Manager – Data Science & Reporting

About the Role

As a Senior Internal Audit Manager – Data Science & Reporting, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to Phoenix by providing Data Science and reporting expertise to support our strategic audit assurance, enhancing our capability to provide influential insight which challenges the effectiveness of the risk, governance and control environment, across the group. 

You will lead a team of professionals to provide crucial data analytics, systems, board reporting and annual planning services to GIA. Your team will support the transformation and continuous improvement of GIA, aligned to GIA’s strategic vision.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the delivery of the Data Analytics (DA) development plan (including Data Science support such as Data sourcing, Data Analytics, Data Visualisations, AI, management of DA/AI tools)​
  • Data Governance & Systems development (e.g. Annual Planning, Working paper and Scheduling)
  • Annual Planning & Management Committee reporting, including Opinion Reporting and action tracking framework
  • Providing internal project management support (including IA systems migrations, as and when required). 

We expect you to make an immediate impact, establishing influential relationships with a wider range of senior stakeholders and demonstrating your ability to generate trust, provide insight and adapt to gain buy in, especially around developing DA and AI initiatives which build GIA capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree, ideally in applied maths subject (e.g. Data Science / AI, Statistics, Computer Science, Big Data, Engineering, Physics, Economics, Maths) with Post Qualified Experience.
  • Knowledge of developing and embedding data analytics / AI tools. 
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Python or R, SQL, Big Data, BI tool (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, QuickSight, Qlik) would be desirable 
  • Good regulatory awareness, understanding the impact of regulations on your portfolio. 
  • Previous Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Assurance experience required, ideally within a large Financial Services organisation
