YOUR TEAM
• Our Manchester Land Team is currently 38 strong and made up of land consultants, property specialists, and utility and topographical surveyors working across our UK offices.
• We work closely with our 250 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland delivering land services on a variety of projects across the energy, water, road, rail and active-travel sectors.
• We are the largest Land Referencing business in the UK, having delivered high profile projects such as HS2, Bute, Thames Tideway, Hynet and Transpennine Route Upgrade.
• We work locally, making a difference to Manchester projects but also nationally with other WSP teams, using in-house land information and consultation databases alongside GIS systems, with a focus on innovation and quality.
• We actively support people in achieving professional accreditations and have Chartered Geographers (CGeog), Chartered Town Planners (RTPI) and Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) who can support your career progression.
• We have clients across the Transport, Energy, Rail and Local Authority Sectors.
Responsibilities
• Identification of landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold an interest in land, through interpretation and research of HMLR titles and engagement with landowners.
• Contribute to WSP Land delivery and success of high-profile infrastructure projects within UK and Ireland business.
• Your work will lead the delivery of land access, landowner / stakeholder engagement, optioneering and statutory processes (CPO, GVD DCO).
• Management and mentoring of junior team members.
• Input to work-winning activities.
Qualifications
• Demonstrable experience of Land Referencing and/or land acquisition processes, including researching and identifying landowners/occupiers, land interests and rights.
• Working knowledge of searching Land Registry titles on HMLR.
• Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering land and engagement solutions in a front facing role for clients.
• Detailed knowledge and experience of one or more UK statutory consents requirements, such as a Hybrid Bill, TWAO, DCO, CPO, and/or Vesting Order as well as an understanding of the land and property industry.
• A degree in Geography (or a relevant discipline) or relevant technical experience.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills and ability to liaise at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience of training, mentoring, or transferring technical knowledge to junior colleagues and the ability to undertake technical assurance of other colleagues’ work.
• Drive and enthusiasm to create strong technical work.
• Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of budget, scope, change control and other project management activities.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to comfortably liaise with clients.
• A full UK drivers’ licence.
