We are currently looking for a motivated and talented lawyer on a 12 month fixed-term contract to join our Northern Europe Legal Team. This role involves leading a full range of commercial legal matters in the UK and Ireland, including legal support and advice to a number of departments across the business and its subsidiaries, including our, Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain functions as well as working with our regional and global teams.
The position covers responsibility for the UK and Ireland, manages one direct report and will report into our Chief Counsel for the Mondelez Northern Europe region

How you will contribute

  • As part of Northern Europe Legal leadership team, setting and providing strategic direction of the function for the team and wider business.
  • Lead legal and strategic advisor, directly and through other members of the team, for Sales, Supply Chain and issues management across UK and Ireland. Examples include:
  • Sales strategy and agreements with key customers, including joint business plans, promotional funding and rebates, and e-commerce initiatives.
  • Developing and delivering competition law and other legal training across the business to ensure compliance and risk management effectively.
  • Procurement agreements with strategic suppliers including logistics providers, ingredient suppliers and other supply chain requirements.
  • Legal lead on issues management matters including relating to food quality matters, supply constraints and regulatory issues.
  • Provide legal support for Marketing, corporate and government affairs, brand and reputation issues, data protection matters.

You will lead in setting and implementing legal strategies that enable Mondelēz International to compete and to protect our people, assets and reputation while complying with legal requirements and standards of ethical conduct. In addition to these contributions, you will also lead the legal team in providing legal services to the company at an optimal cost considering internal and external resources, technologies and systems; provide legal guidance to ensure managers make informed decisions regarding legal operational risks; manage the legal strategy with outside counsel, including spending without compromising financial and reputational risk; address the complex legal environment by partnering with business units, regions and global stakeholders to identify and advise on laws and regulatory changes for a given country and/or across multiple countries identifying risks and opportunities for the company.

  • Significant legal experience, ideally in a large matrixed multinational company
  • Strong analytical, strategic vision, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience navigating and presenting at all levels of organization
  • Significant experience assessing, advising on risk, advising/coaching and dispute resolution in a multinational company
  • Highest level of integrity and trust; highly credible and willing to express
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resourcefulness, including relevant new technologies and systems

More about this role

What we are looking for:

  • You are a qualified lawyer with at least 10 years post qualification experience of working in the UK market within an in-house legal department (FMCG preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Significant experience of commercial, competition and contract law. 
  • Experience of Intellectual Property and Corporate Governance is desired.
  • You are a driven and dedicated team player with a growth mindset and keen to learn and work with our business.
