Position: Senior Legal Counsel

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a key role within the legal team, offering expert legal guidance on complex matters. You will provide strategic support on issues such as contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, reinsurance agreements, and distribution arrangements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer specialized advice on insurance and reinsurance law, including contract wording and distribution agreements.
  • Oversee commercial and corporate contract negotiations, enhancing intra-group agreements and managing third-party service contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance team to address regulatory and sanctions-related issues.
  • Support the company’s global distribution operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Partner with corporate underwriting teams and legal professionals to implement and adhere to group-wide guidelines.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve legal processes and ensure consistency across the business.
  • Provide training, create contract templates, and disseminate legal knowledge throughout the organization.
  • Identify and manage legal risks, including overseeing the engagement of external counsel as necessary.
  • Champion initiatives that promote the best possible outcomes for customers and policyholders.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Qualified Lawyer with extensive post-qualification experience (PQE) in both private practice (insurance) and in-house roles.
  • Expertise in insurance law with a strong understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislative, regulatory, and competitive landscapes, particularly concerning consumer products.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to align legal advice with business objectives.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • A University Degree and/or relevant professional qualification is required.
