We need a Senior Audit Manager to join us at AWE Nuclear Security Technologies.

It’s a truly exciting time to join us with a lot of scope for progression and work on fascinating projects. (And don’t forget, every second Friday off!)

Location: Hybrid and fully flexible working, with our offices based near Reading at RG7 4PR. You will need to be onsite up to 3 days per week.

Salary Range starts at: £58,200. This is very much open to upwards negotiation if you have the skills and experience that we need.

The UK government has committed substantial investment into improving our infrastructure, so we are building a talented team to make the most of this opportunity.

A typical day for a Senior Audit Manager could look like this:

  • Delivering a portfolio of independent audit engagements.
  • Coaching and developing a team of auditors and senior auditors.
  • Conducting complex, sensitive or high-risk audits.
  • Championing development of initiatives to support and promote the audit strategy.
  • Creating and providing management information on audit plan delivery and implications.
  • Supporting the performance and results of the internal audit team.
  • Ensuring your team has sufficient knowledge, skills, experience and professional certifications to effectively deliver our integrated audit programme.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior management and key auditees.
  • Identifying and supporting the implementation of internal and external best practices within audit.

We would like you to demonstrate or have experience of:

  • A curious mindset.
  • Proficiency with audit techniques to address specific focus of individual audit & consultancy assignments.
  • Able to focus audit reviews and outcomes on key business objectives.
  • Up to date with current corporate governance approaches and management of common risks.
  • Engaging with senior leaders to facilitate implementation of recommendations.
  • Developing a team.
  • Chartered or Certified member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, or equivalent.

Your CV will stand out if we see evidence of the following:

  • Background in a Science & Technology / Project based / regulated organisations.
  • Specialist Professional, Technical, Project Management or Change.
  • Regular exposure at Board level, Audit Committee (or equivalent).
  • Successfully lead multi-disciplinary audit teams.
  • Awareness of relevant UK and European regulations and legislation.
  • People leadership skills, with a focus on personal development.
  • Constructed integrated audit plans with other assurance providers.
  • Implementation of project management techniques.

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain Security/ Developed Vetting Clearance (funded by AWE) in order to start with us in this role. It can take several months for clearance to come through. More info is available on UK.GOV.

  • Interviews will be 75 minutes on TEAMs during working hours.
  • You will be required to prepare and present a 10 minute presentation.
