We are looking for an exceptional Senior Manager to jointly head up our exciting £15m partnership with Lloyds Register Foundation, Engineering X.

Engineering matters. It underpins our daily lives, drives economic growth, plays a critical role in addressing major societal challenges and helps ensure our readiness for the future, from providing a sustainable supply of food, water and clean energy, to advancing healthcare, and keeping us safe and secure.

As the UK’s national academy for engineering and technology, the Royal Academy of Engineering brings together the most talented and successful engineers – our Fellows – to advance and promote excellence in engineering for the benefit of society.

Engineering X is a platform that brings global experts together to engineer change. Our vision is to ensure that engineers play their key role in addressing global challenges.

Since 2019, Engineering X has designed and implemented 5 global missions, tackling pressing safety, preparedness and sustainability challenges, and innovating a new model of programme design and delivery, centred around generating evidence, community building, and advocacy.

You will be an excellent manager of people, budgets and programmes, responsible for overseeing the growth of two exciting missions. Safer Complex Systems seeks to better understand the increasing connectedness of our systems and engineer a safer world for all, while Safer End of Engineered Life aims to improve safety in the disposal and decommissioning of engineering artefacts at the end of their lives.

But you will also be a key partner in developing the next stages of Engineering X. Your skills in relationship building, communication and community management will be vital in helping us to tell our story, to grow our community and to encourage other partners to collaborate with us.

And you will also be leading on the design and delivery of Engineering NeXt- our newest mission, aimed at creating connections, skills and knowledge for younger engineers around the world.

You will be committed to diversity and inclusion, and share our belief that engaging diverse partners and listening to under-represented voices is a must for programmes and partnerships that have impact where it matters most.

You will join a warm, enthusiastic and dedicated team, and will be working closely with world experts from the Royal Academy of Engineering's Fellowship and our partners in Lloyd’s Register Foundation in steering Engineering X’s development and designing new missions and partnerships.

We are looking for someone with real partnership expertise who is not afraid to experiment and break new ground, who shares our values, and enjoys collaborating with engineers from all the world to drive real change on global problems.

Does this sound like you? If so, join us!

We are also recruiting for a Senior Manager - Operations. If you would also like to be considered for that role you will need to submit a separate application. To find out more and to apply, please visit our website at www.raeng.org.uk/careers.

As a great place to work, we support flexible working and would be happy to discuss working patterns with candidates. We welcome the different perspectives and views that individuals from different backgrounds bring.

We also offer an unrivalled package of benefits including a non-contributory pension scheme, BUPA cash plan, private medical insurance, subsidised restaurant, regular social activities, health and wellbeing programmes, as well as significant investment into your personal and professional development. During Covid-19 all staff have been working remotely, this will continue until September, when we will move to flexible working with two days a week in the office.
