Our client, a market leader for automated manufacturing systems are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join their team in Saffron Walden.

The ideal candidate will have extensive Catia V5 or V6 experience and will have worked within the automotive sector.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of assigned design elements and liaise with other engineering disciplines (Process, Layout, Simulation, Controls) to ensure a complete engineering solution is developed
- Manage scope & timing for assigned mechanical design activities, providing feedback to the Design Leader / Engineering Leader to enable them to plan resource requirements & monitor progress from concept through to release for manufacture
- Work closely with Design Leader / Engineering Leader to ensure scope / timing / resource concerns are identified & addressed in a timely manner
- Ensure that mechanical design actions are successfully completed per agreed timing e.g., Functional Design Specifications, Design Risk Assessments, DFMEA, PFMEA, ergonomic studies, FEA
- Ensure design output achieves Right-First-Time objectives through diligence & focus during detail design process
- Liaise with commodity suppliers to ensure equipment selected is suitable for the application & get supplier sign-off prior to release to manufacture
- Attend project specific meetings and support internal / customer design reviews
- Adopt continuous improvement of engineering practises in collaboration with Design Leaders / Chief Engineer
- Support manufacturing, assembly & site teams with design queries & clarification
- Support sales & proposals with design concepts for new customer enquiries
Overall Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years working experience within an Automotive environment
- Catia trained with a minimum of 3 years working experience on this CAD package
- Relevant Engineering Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or higher preferred

- £45-£50k base salary
