Are you passionate about the power of the media to change lives? Do you have a knack for finding interesting angles on stories and a strong track record of delivering impactful media campaigns? We are looking for someone with a sound knowledge of PR principles and practices to help us raise awareness of childhood deafness, drive forward our campaigns and motivate the public to support us.

You will work with a range of diverse teams across the charity to shape media relations strategies and plan and deliver integrated media and PR projects to a wide range of print, broadcast and digital media outlets. Your excellent communication skills, together with the ability to liaise with internal and external contacts, will make you an invaluable part of our media team. This is an exciting and challenging role and will suit someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a wider communications department.

Ideally you will have experience working within a charity, campaigning or political environment but we are open to applications from candidates with agency experience.

To apply for this role, you will have to complete an online application and specify how you meet the person specification criteria, as outlined in the job description. To do this, we suggest that you download the job description from our website prior to starting your application.

We expect interviews to be held virtually on Monday, 8 November.

The National Deaf Children’s Society is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults and expects staff and volunteers to share that commitment.

A disclosure check will be sought in relation to the successful applicant for this post. This will be shared with Human Resources and may also be shared with the Safeguarding Manager and the relevant management team. All applicants must also complete a self-disclosure form.

We strive to provide an accessible recruitment process. If a disability or long-term condition makes it difficult for you to complete our application form, please contact us to discuss alternative formats. If you require reasonable adjustments for taking part in the interview, please indicate this in response to the corresponding question in the application form.
Additional information about the support we offer is on our jobs page.

We are a Disability Confident Employer and committed to offering interviews to candidates who request to be considered under the disability confident scheme and meet the minimum requirements of the person specification.
