The role


Content is at the heart of everything we do. Our mantra is ‘persuasive story-telling, artfully crafted’ and therefore content generation is critical. All writers within our team should be striving to generate relevant, and engaging content that is ‘fit for purpose’ across a variety of platforms.


As a Senior Medical Copywriter, your role will be to produce high-quality copy across a range of medical communications deliverables and therapy areas and support team management responsibilities. You own the science and work closely with creatives to produce content and messaging that are highly engaging and memorable, lead on some accounts, adjust to different client styles and project types, and show good commercial understanding. Provide support to the junior members of the team to ensure briefs are clear, content is peer-reviewed and learning opportunities are provided.


Input into the brand and content strategy for allocated accounts and work collaboratively to support the team in delivering engaging and emotive copy. Ensure content is reflective to the brief and platform – with experience across a range of commercial deliverables from sales and promotional materials to disease awareness campaigns.


Core Duties & Responsibilities


  • Maintain a high quality of medical writing
  • Continually feedback to all members of the writing team effectively, ensuring learnings are taken forward onto future projects
  • Assist with the promotion of quality control processes and procedures
  • Address internal and external comments on your work intelligently and question any that are inappropriate, inaccurate, or unclear
  • Understand brand strategy and content approach to ensure engaging and relevant copy-generation
  • Comfortable and confident working with creatives to produce appropriate communication concepts that are creatively strong, on brief, on brand, and on target
  • Able to write strong headlines and develop an appropriate tone to produce copy that builds on conceptual themes and enhances the power of communication.
  • Develop an understanding of new therapeutic areas quickly and comprehensively
  • Build an understanding of client and competitor products, therapy areas, portfolio, and clinical and commercial strategy in the context of the current market
  • Actively contribute scientific/brand knowledge to creative brainstorms and help develop clear, relevant, and concise copy in support of the wider team
  • Begin to act as the Copy Lead on designated brands
  • Help support training and upskilling of junior members alongside senior members of the writing team
  • Help plan workload and contribute to resourcing for your day-to-day brand team and wider writing team
  • Work collaboratively with account team members to ensure that all account objectives are met
  • Build relationships with clients and/or external experts
  • Assist with the development of proposals and present at pitches when appropriate
  • When appropriate, contribute to the development of project specifications, cost estimates, and reconciliations
  • Communicate clearly to team members at all times, schedule and budget guidelines, and adhere to those given by a project's Technical Lead
