About The Role We are recruiting Senior PHP Developers to join our expanding Retail & Trade team. The team primarily work on our bespoke CRM which supports our colleagues in the showrooms and improves our customers journey from design to delivery. Due to the ever-changing needs of our customers, we must be responsive to ensure we continue to deliver a fantastic customer experience and remain at the forefront of the market. Our PHP developers contribute to improvements, new features and maintenance of our Symfony 4/5 based web applications. Working as a member of our agile development team, new features are written using Object Oriented (OO) PHP, MySQL, HTML5 and JavaScript in an environment that encourages learning and the advancement of your technical skills as a developer. Main Responsibilities Build and maintain Wrens custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 4/5 based) Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others Contribute to project estimations Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle Work with business stakeholders and development team to understand the initial scope for a new project In addition to any otherduties, as a responsible person you must ensure that you have read,understood and adhere to polices and procedure relating to Health andSafety, and your responsibilities located in the Integrated ManagementSystem (IMS) Responsibilities document. Free annual eye tests as well as a contribution to new glasses Refer a Friend Scheme with the chance to earn up to £1500 for each referral Quarterly bonus scheme Free access to our onsite gym Subsidised meals in our two fantastic restaurants Free onsite parking About You Essential skills and knowledge: At least 4 years experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 based systems A working knowledge of the Symfony (or equivalent) framework A working knowledge of the Doctrine ORM An understanding of the MVC approach to development Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently) Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team Excellent communication skills must be able to describe technical issues to a none technical audience Highly proficient in both spoken and written English A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code Experience supporting other developers in the team. Beneficial skills and knowledge: Experience in creating and maintaining RESTFul APIs. Experience of automated testing (e.g. PHPUnit, Selenium, Behat) Knowledge of design patterns, with practical experience of implementing them Experience of agile project methodologies (and its impact on iterative design) Experience of working in a continuous integration environment Familiar with Linux or Mac OS Has previously worked for a retailer / understands retail process
